It is known to all that over the past three decades China has witnessed rapid urbanization unprecedented both in scale and speed, while at the same time accumulated nagging problems necessitating radical reforms. Which is often but should not be neglected is that the path of urbani-zation China has taken differs widely from that of foreign countries and will continue to shape China’s future.
This book is a collection of the author’s essays and speeches on various occasions in the past 6-7 years, for example, his suggestions on the design of China Pavilion at Shanghai Expo 2010, closing remarks during his visits to townships, and essays published in newspapers. It showcases his insights of the strategies that should be applied to small town development in China. It has four chapters as below.
