The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development launched the pilot programme of Sino-British Green and Low-Carbon Towns on August 28th. It is conducive to demonstrating replicable experiences, facilitating the development of New-Type Urbanization.
Recently, with urban and rural social economic development and the implementation of urbanization strategy, remarkable progress has been made in China’s small towns development. However, extensive use of resources, deficient infrastructure and public service among other problems are still prominent. Therefore, in order to achieve intensive, smart, low-carbon and sustainable development and improve ecological environment, it is necessary to delve into technical guidelines suitable for Chinese towns.
Also, this research program is a China Prosperity SPF Programme, jointly carried out by MOHURD and British Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The project aim is to learn the advanced practices of Britain and come up with Chinese approach, thus strengthening comprehensive sustainable development of Chinese small towns.
