To implement the Joint Declaration on the EU-China Partnership on Urbanisation signed by the EU and Chinese leaders in May, 2012, advance EU-China partnership on urbanization, introduce more pairing cities, promote the demonstrative outcomes of the partnership, and secure the successful organization of EU-China Forums on Sustainable Urban Development, the China Center for Urban Development (CCUD) was authorized by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) to work with other organizations in the name of “Secretariat of EU-China Urbanization Partnership”. Supported and directed by the Department of Development Planning and Department of International Cooperation of the NDRC, the CCUD actively promotes the development of EU-China partnership on urbanisation.
With the guidance and support from the Department of Development Planning and Department of International Cooperation of the NDRC, the CCUD has long dedicated to the establishment of an international cooperation platform on new urbanization and the organization of important international events.
Since 2012, the CCUD has assisted the Department of Development Planning and Department of International Cooperation of the NDRC in holding 2012 EU-China Urbanisation Partnership High-level Conference, 2015 EU-China Urbanisation Partnership Forum, 2016 Signing Ceremony of Cooperation Projects under the EU-China Urbanisation Partnership, and 2013 EU-China Exhibition on Urban Development. Premier Li Keqiang and Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli of the State Council, Mr. Barroso, the then-chairman of the European Union, and Mr. Juncker, the current chairman, attended the events and delivered speeches.
