The Project of “Government Capacity Building on Enhancing the Integration of Migrant Workers and Their Families into the Society” was funded by United Nations Development Programme, with the joint implementation of China Center of Urban Development of National Development and Reform Commission and Employment Promotion and Occupational Injury Insurance Departments of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the PRC. The project aims to provide equal access to the basic public services in employment, social insurance, medical service and education to migrant workers and enhance the integration of migrant workers and their families into the society by improving the related institutions and mechanisms and putting in place such activities as policy research, capacity building and trails.
The key of the project is to reform the employment and living systems detrimental to migrant workers’ integration into the society in the urban management system and put forward the policy and measures for improvement. Moreover, the project will conclude the practice, lessons and problems of big and medium-sized cities and towns in settling migrant workers. Based on the policy research and the lessons, we will select 11 towns as trails to promote institutional innovation and provide policy support.
