Forum Notice: High-level International Forum on Sustainable Urban Development

The New Urban Agenda, adopted on the third United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development in October 2017 in Quito, Ecuador, pointed out a clear path for global urbanization with sustainable urban development concepts. China’s National New-type Urbanization Plan (2014-2020) also stressed to enhance urban sustainability and to transform urban development models in the new urbanization drive.

Dedicated to promoting sustainable urban development around the globe, the UN Habitat has rich experience and a resourceful platform. The UN Habitat and China Center for Urban Development (CCUD) of China National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding witnessed by NDRC leaders in which both sides agreed to co-host the annual high-level International Forum on Sustainable Urban Development. The first high-level International Forum on Sustainable Urban Development is planned to take place on July 21-22, 2017, in Chengdu city, China.

Under the theme of Livable and Sustainable Development, the Forum will gather high-level policy makers, urban managers, scholars and experts, company leaders and media elites at home and abroad. The forum will discuss how to tackle problems in urban development and serve as a high-level platform for the connectivity of world cities.
